Volunteering at Metro Caring’s Fresh Foods Market

Volunteering at Metro Caring's Fresh Foods Market

On Wednesday, August 13, our team had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer with Metro Caring. We spent the day supporting their Fresh Foods Market — a choice-based food pantry where community members can shop for nutritious food free of charge.
When we arrived for our shift, we were placed into an orientation group where we learned a little bit about the organization, then got assigned our roles for the day. Our team was split to help cover different jobs – stocking shelves with fresh produce, checking in people into the pantry, answering phone calls – and when the doors opened, we were immediately thrown into our work.
As we helped with the food market, we had the opportunity to connect with people from our community and hear all about their story. Every single person that came in had unique backgrounds and it was amazing being able to interact with them.

Metro Caring is one of the leading anti-hunger organizations in Colorado. They work with our community to help meet people’s immediate needs for food, while building a movement to end hunger at its root cause. Not only do they help provide food to our community, but they also provide assistance to those in need of in-state IDs, birth certificates, or a driver’s license.

This year marks their 50th anniversary of their organization, and our team is incredibly grateful to have been a part of it. 50 years ago, five organizations came together to accomplish a goal of keeping food on the table for everyone.
Thank you, Metro Caring for all that you do! We can’t wait to get involved more in the future.
