A Preventable Fall, A Lasting Impact: Moving Forward to Trial
After four years of work-up, Dormer Harpring attorneys Sean Dormer and Amy Rogers are preparing to take a premises liability case to trial in Summit County, alongside our co-counsel Jason Levy with Cook, Bradford, & Levy, LLC.
In April of 2022, our client sustained a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) after falling down a dangerous staircase at a business in Breckenridge. Our investigation determined that the property’s landlord was warned about the staircase, but ignored the warning in favor of making its renovations cheaper and faster. Our client was left in a coma, but he’s relearned how to walk, talk, eat, and perform other daily functions. His perseverance has been nothing short of inspiring, but the injury still affects him today.
The Serious Impact of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs)
Traumatic brain injuries don’t always appear on imaging (like MRI or CT scans). Instead, the effects can show up as memory loss, difficulty concentrating, personality changes, chronic headaches, and challenges in everyday life. In many cases, people face long-term medical care, rehabilitation, and significant lifestyle adjustments.
Our client lives with the same challenges. Since this incident, the life he once knew has changed dramatically. Everyday tasks require more time and energy, and he can no longer fully enjoy the activities he once loved.
All of this could easily have been avoided. And when a preventable hazard causes a life-changing injury, accountability matters. We look forward to fighting for the justice our client deserves.
The trial begins March 16th and is expected to last about two weeks.

“I would recommend them to anyone who needs an attorney for a personal injury case!!“
I was under the gun with my statute of limitations less than a month away, and K.C. at Dormer Harpring took on my case anyway. They gave me super professional and super personal service and got me a settlement that was FAR more than the insurance company offered me on my own. I would recommend them to anyone who needs an attorney for a personal injury case!!
