LONE TREE, CO – One person lost their life after their vehicle was struck by a train on the railroad tracks along CO 470 and I-25 on Tuesday.
Preliminary details from South Metro Fire Rescue indicate that the driver, for reasons unclear, veered off the road and got their vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks just before it was hit by the train. The force of the wreck caused the train to come inches away from a wall, leaving a vehicle occupant pinned between the wall and the train.

Fire crews conducted an extrication, and the victim, who remains unidentified, died at the scene. Authorities did not specify if the decedent was the driver or occupant.
City of Lone Tree Police and Colorado State Patrol also responded to the scene and are investigating the details behind the wreck.
Due to the impact of the collision, all E-line train services between Union Station, RidgeGate, and Peoria shut down temporarily, but all services resumed just before 6:30 a.m., according to Jayson Luber from Denver 7 Traffic.
I can see H-Line trains running normally between Florida and Union Station. No E-Line trains are running nor R-Line trains between Peoria and RidgeGate. https://t.co/367EpMbIu8
