News: Minor injuries reported in Weld Co. semi-truck collision

WELD COUNTY, CO – One truck driver sustained minor injuries as a result of a two semi-truck collision that happened on I-25 Thursday, Denver 7 Traffic reports. 

The semi-truck collision took place after 3:15 a.m. between Mead and Berthoud. Preliminary details from Colorado State Patrol show that the first semi-truck driver struck a barrier on the southbound lanes before swerving into the northbound lanes and crashing into a second semi-truck, a gasoline truck. 

After the two trucks made contact, the first tractor-trailer overturned. Office supplies and paper products spilled from the rolled-over truck and were seen scattered across the road. The truck blocked both north and southbound lanes and prompted a several-hour-long closure. During the closures, hazmat crews helped clear the area, which included containing and cleaning up any spills. 

Amid closures, drivers were told to use U.S. 287 as an alternative route. 

It took officials nearly two hours to clear the area. 

No hospital transportations were conducted. Troopers are investigating the details behind Thursday’s crash.
