LAKEWOOD, CO – An SUV crashed and overturned on the completely frozen Soda Lake at Bear Creek Lake Park Thursday, prompting a response from West Metro Fire Rescue.
Firefighters said the collision happened before 10 a.m. Prior to the crash, the driver was traveling on CO 470 before losing control of their vehicle.
First responders confirmed that the car did not fall through the ice and was seen on its side. Despite the nature of the crash, the driver managed to escape injuries.
Fire crews were able to stabilize the vehicle so tow truck crews could remove it from the site.
Authorities mentioned that workers were cleaning up an oil spill as crews worked to remove the vehicle from the site. It’s unclear if the spill resulted from the crash. Nonetheless, the spill was cleaned.
