BOULDER COUNTY, CO – Authorities have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man for his role in a hit-and-run collision on Sunday, May 18, in Boulder that claimed the life of a cyclist, reports KDVR.

The fatal crash happened at around 12:00 p.m., on the corner of 95th Street and Avocet Lane.

The young man is believed to have been behind the wheel of a blue Toyota Highlander when he struck a cyclist and then fled the scene without stopping.

The victim, who was rushed to a nearby hospital, was later pronounced deceased.

Shortly after the Highlander was discovered vacant in Littleton, the alleged driver was charged as follows by the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office: “failing to remain at the scene/give information/provide aid after an accident involving death, and failure to notify police of a road accident.”

Colorado State Patrol officials say further charges against the driver are expected.
