AURORA, CO – Aurora police are investigating the details of a crash between two big rigs and a sedan at the I-225 and East Alameda Avenue connector Friday.
#APDTrafficAlert: All three lanes of northbound I-225 are closed at Alameda for a three-vehicle crash involving two semis and a sedan. One of the semis is leaking diesel fuel. @AuroraFireDpt is on scene performing the cleanup.
The crash took place before 2 p.m. on the northbound lanes., and warranted a response from Aurora fire crews as well. The impact of the collision caused diesel fuel to spill from one of the trucks, calling for a complete several-hour-long closure.
By 3:12 p.m., fire crews reopened one lane to accommodate the flow of traffic. However, the majority of I-225 northbound lanes remain closed. As closures continue, drivers may want to use Peoria Street or Chambers Road as alternative routes.
No drivers appear to have been seriously hurt.
Colorado Department of Transportation crews are investigating the details behind the accident and have provided no updates at this time.
