THORNTON, CO – An 18-year-old man driving a Toyota Corolla was said to have been impaired when he ran a red light, leading to a crash that killed a 35-year-old man Thursday.
According to Thornton police, just after 11 p.m., the Toyota driver proceeded through the intersection of East 120th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard when he struck an Acura TL driven by the 35-year-old man. Officers said the Acura was turning onto southbound 120th Ave, and the Toyota was going east on 120th Avenue when they collided.

The 35-year-old man suffered fatal injuries, while EMS crews took the 18-year-old man to a local hospital. Officers believe the surviving driver was going beyond the speed limit when the wreck took place.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
