News: 3 arrested following pursuit-turned-crash in Centennial

CENTENNIAL, CO – Three people were arrested after a pursuit-turned-crash at the Centennial Airport Wednesday, The Denver Post reports.

The events unfolded before 10 p.m. when Douglas County deputies had gotten an alert for a report of a stolen vehicle. On I-25 North, deputies saw the vehicle that matched the description of the stolen car and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver.

The driver did not stop and sped away, prompting a pursuit. The chase continued on the interstate and then at South Peoria Street, where the driver turned. The motorist failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the vehicle, and plowed into a building housed on the Centennial Airport property.

After the collision happened, law enforcement arrested the driver and two passengers. Authorities said one passenger was given a “court summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.” The other passenger was “arrested for an outstanding warrant,” and the driver for “suspicion of motor vehicle theft, eluding and reckless driving.”

South Metro Fire and Colorado State Patrol helped the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. Officials called a building inspector to give a verdict on the building’s structural integrity. At this time, it’s unclear if the structural integrity was compromised.

No serious injuries were reported at this time.
