News: 2 hospitalized after crash caused by man falling asleep at wheel 

AURORA, CO – Two women were hospitalized for minor wounds after their car was struck by a male driver who fell asleep behind the wheel Monday. 

This two-vehicle wreck happened before 5 a.m. in the area of Airport Boulevard, according to Denver 7 Traffic. The impact of this crash led both vehicles to overturn and the man’s car to catch on fire. 

Aurora PD tells me this regarding the earlier wreck near Airport Blvd:

Two-vehicle crash reported just before 5am.

Vehicle 1 – adult male – fell asleep at the wheel, hit vehicle 2.
Vehicle 2 – two adult females

Both vehicles rolled, first vehicle caught fire.

The man was cited for careless driving and did not have to go to a hospital. 

Authorities cleared the crash before 7 a.m.
