COMMERCE CITY, CO – South Adams fire crews had to extricate a driver from their semi-truck following a collision that occurred off I-270 around 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver lost control of their truck, which caused them to leave the road, go off the interstate overpass, and crash onto East 56th Ave. Photos from 9News revealed that the truck had rolled over.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital by ambulance personnel. Firefighters said the motorist had a dog on board the truck, but they have not been able to locate it.

Commerce City police confirmed that the truck was the only involved vehicle. Due to the serious nature of the crash, officers had to shut down East 56th Ave. between Eudora Street and Sand Creek Drive South for the scene clearance process.

A full investigation is underway.
