JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO – A multi-vehicle accident Thursday morning, February 20, on Highway 93 in Golden has claimed one life and left two others injured, reports Denver 7.

Colorado State Patrol (CSP) officials say the collision occurred between Table Mountain and 58th Avenue, leading to an hours-long shut down of the area. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at about 6:15 a.m.

An investigation into the incident remains under way, but four vehicles were involved, and three people had to be rushed to an area hospital. At 10:48 a.m., one of those patients succumbed to their injuries.

Jeffco Sheriff’s Office deputies were on the scene re-directing northbound motorists onto Highway 58, and then onto McIntyre or Easley Road. All southbound traffic was forced to divert onto West 58th Avenue.

At 12:19 p.m., over five hours later, Highway 93 was fully reopened to traffic.
